Physiotherapy for Sports Injuries
At PhysioWorld our management strategy for both types of injury “mirrors” what is provided on a daily basis to the players of a professional football club or an Olympic athlete.
This means Physioworld provides diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for all types of soft tissue and joint irritation.
Physioworld provide a very “hands on” approach to injury management, the philosophy is “all about” applying manual therapy treatments together with strength and conditioning programmes to the injured area in preparation to returning to activity and prevent reoccurance. All our treatments are on a one to one basis so you receive exactly the same as a professional footballer or an Olympic athelete .No machines are involved in our treatments
All sports injuries are produced either via specific incident (traumatic) or non – specific incident (overuse). Both types of injury produce an inflammatory response leading to pain and irritation
The Theory of Injury Management
Pre 7/10 day’s treatment
Whatever the mechanics of the injury whether specific or non specific the GOAL in the initial stage
Is to REDUCE the inflammatory response. This is achieved via R.I.C.E.
(Rest.Ice.Compression.Elevation)
Post 7/10 days treatment
The management of the injury now is designed to restore full sporting function as rapidly as possible. The manual treatment techniques together with the relevant strength and conditioning programmes facilitate resolution of inflammation, removal of adhesions, maturation of scar tissue and increasing muscle strength.
